It’s the time of year where everyone starts working on their summer body, skin & inner glow. Skincare has always been a big part of my life, so I decided to start transitioning into a Spring/summer skincare regime. Finding products that will aid my oily T-zone, and create an even tone and radiance.
I’d seen bits here and there about Deciem on social media, a leading innovative skincare company. They have 16 different skincare brands, each unique to their own. I decided to try out ‘The Ordinary’, seeing as it was fitting for my student budget. As I wanted to obtain brighter, smoother skin this led me to purchase: ‘Lactic Acid 5%’, ‘Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%’ and the ‘Alpha Arbutin’ serum. TOTAL: £18
At first I was hesistant to buy this. My initial thoughts were ‘How can skincare so cheap actually work? It’s prolly just water in this’. After a little more research, I wanted nothing more than to test the products for myself to see whether they actually worked. 2 days later, my order arrived in simple packaging. Nothing too OTT yet, aesthetically pleasing *inserts aloe plant into the background*. The ingredients in the serums are highly concentrated, and also contain active ingredients which allow the product to be sold for such a mere price. There are minimal ingredients, making the brand a perfect match for anyone that has super-sensitive skin / allergies.
On the day that my order arrived, I decided to test the products. I opted to not mix the serums with my normal moisturiser, as I wanted to see the result ASAP. I applied the products by patting them into my face and neck with my fingers. Instantly, I noticed how smooth my skin felt. It was almost as if I was wearing a primer! And that’s exactly what it says on the tin. ‘target uneven tone, textural irregularities and fine lines’. I was amazed at how quickly I was noticing improvement in my skin, especially from such an affordable skincare brand.
As I have been using this for around a week now, I have definitely seen and felt improvement in the condition of my skin. Under my eyes seem to be brighter, and my skin hasn’t been this smooth in a long long time. During the days, my skin doesn’t get as oily in the T-zone area and my skin just generally feels a lot smoother. At times, I feel that the products could contain a tiny bit more moisture, but – my skin is loving it!
I would definitely recommend this brand to ANYONE on a budget, looking for skincare that actually works. Hold me to it.
